The YR Media Media Education program is here to empower 14 to 18-year-olds to turn their ideas into multimedia content seen by millions. On top of that, we pay our YR stars for their hard work.

Join the Media Movement

In keeping with YR Media’s model, fellows will earn learning stipends while following career pathways training, and receive support resources including mental health counseling, academic advice, financial coaching, access to a case manager, and healthy meals. 


Oakland interns will work with industry mentors on career training tracks in:

  • Video and Photography: Fellows gain hands-on experience in gathering and editing footage to tell compelling stories visually 

  • Music and Audio Production: Participants learn to gather recordings, edit audio files and create impactful soundscapes. 

  • Journalism and Podcasting: Content creators develop media literacy principles, reporting skills and storytelling abilities. 

  • Graphic Design and Digital Art: Students hone their visual style and build technical skills using industry-standard design software.


Chicago interns will work with industry mentors on career training tracks in:
