Fatty Foods

"It was my worst nightmare: A non-fat meal."

Listen to this Commentary!

By DeSean Robinson-Walker

The first word I ever spoke was McDonalds.

I’m DeSean Robinson-Walker with a commentary for Youth Radio.

I’ve always loved fatty foods. They are part of my daily routine. But recently, I ate lunch at a healthy food restaurant with my mom. It was my worse nightmare: A non-fat meal. Everything from the ice cream to the pizza WAS lacking its appropriate fats and greases.

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m a supporter of eating healthy. But it seems like the health nuts are taking over. Every fast food chain and grocery store is switching to healthy, or non-fat foods or products. Even Mcdonalds.

Before you hate me, you should hear my story. I was teased when I was younger because of the way I looked. I was called fat and juicy. Family members joked about my weight. They didn’t know it hurt me but it did.

In junior high I starved myself. I only ate one meal a day, skipping breakfast and lunch. And eventually I just got smaller and smaller; happier and happier because the teasing stopped. And one day, I was able to eat normally again.

Now, I exercise everyday and never worry about what I eat. Now, I’m comfortable with myself.
