Postal

I am really worried about my dad, who's been working for the postal service for 35 years. I'm Jacinda Cisse with a commentary from Youth Radio.
My dad works at the main mail facility in San Francisco. When I was a kid, he would come home with stories of packages from overseas that accidentally leak and spill bright red spices all over, filling the mailroom with the
scent of paprika and curry. Those stories used to be light and funny to me, but now I think if paprika and curry powder can spread-what about anthrax?
I feel like postal workers aren't given enough credit for risking their lives in this time of crisis. Before September 11th, being a postal worker was a really tough job with so many hazards - if it wasn't throwing your back out, or developing "the mailman's limp" before age 30, it was a vicious dog or horrendous weather. Now, it's bio-terrorism. There's all this talk about America's heroes. For once, I wish people would finally appreciate
postal workers as heroic people too.
For Youth Radio, I'm Jacinda Cisse
