Water Coolers

Celeste Owens

Have you ever been stuck at work on a hot, dry day?

I'm Celeste Owens with a commentary from Youth Radio.

Your boss says, "What's wrong?" And you reply in a dry, raspy voice that you're dying of thirst. The only thing keeping you alive is the overhead fan, which appears to be on the verge of death itself.

Then, your savior appears. He steps down from his little aqua blue truck in his little aqua blue uniform. As he hauls the 5-gallon tank of the holiest of all liquids over his shoulders, something in you rejoices. Suddenly, you're comforted by the fact that you won't have to rely on chromium contaminated tap water to quench your thirst. Once your aqua man has topped the empty water cooler with a new, full jug, you get on your knees to praise him.

We tend to take advantage of our water coolers, not at all appreciating what they do for us. So, remember to be kind to your water cooler. Oh, and don't leave your paper cups laying around. No one wants to pick up after you.

For Youth Radio, I'm Celeste Owens.
