Parental Understanding

"Adults tend to think that teenagers have it easier than them."

By Jamon Jackson

Teenagers go through a lot; from choosing the color of one sock to deciding what college we want to attend. Personally I know that I go through a lot, and my parents think they know everything. My parents have no clue what I go through everyday. Adults tend to think that teenagers have it easier than them, just because they're grown and pay bills.

Well I have news for them!

I don't think there is one teenager that is just completely happy and doesn't have a single problem. That goes for both rich teenagers and teenagers in poverty. Just going to school everyday is a big task. Teens have to worry about weapons, bombs, and drugs. But when our parents went to school, they didn't have to worry about wearing see-through book bags, or going through metal detectors.

Why don't parents understand?

I don't know, but if they could switch places with us, then I think they would understand.
