Sister Fight

"We all have to grow up sometime."

By Krystle Martin

My older sister just flew in from Virginia, where she’s going to college, and already our attitudes are clashing.

I’m Krystle Martin with a commentary from Youth Radio.

I bought my sister a CD, and she’s all, “Why’d you get me this?” I was really trying to be nice, to say, “I missed you, and I’m glad you’re home.” But I guess she didn’t like the artist. How was I supposed to know?

I think we’re clashing because she’s been going to college for a while, making her own decisions, doing what she wants when she wants. Which is cool, I mean we all have to grow up sometime. But with attitudes like “I’m grown, I don’t have to listen to you” there’s only so much a little sister can take.

The thing is, we’re so much alike. Sometimes we even think alike. After a while, a person gets tired of having their every move anticipated, and wants to be unique. That’s why my sister and I fight over the smallest things. But no matter how big the fight is, we always make sure that we apologize before the end of the day.

For Youth Radio, I’m Krystle Martin.
