"I’m a touchdown scoring, interception making, quarterback-sacking maniac."

Listen to this Commentary!

By James Kim

Video games allow non-athletic teenagers to be star players.

I’m James Kim with a commentary from Youth Radio.

I just bought the football video game Madden 2K3 and it’s awesome. When I’m playing I’m a touchdown scoring, interception making, quarterback-sacking maniac. But after an insane, in your face baby, 52 to 0 shut out game, I turn off my Play Station video game system and I’m just an ordinary guy who whishes he could play some serious football.

Being fairly short and stocky I’m not really cut out to be a great athlete. I play with my friends but I’ve never been able to thrill a coach. I was on the junior varsity team at my high school for one year. Not only did my game not get any better, but my grades got worse. I had to quit.

Video games have saved my self-esteem! In a virtual world, I’m able to dunk like Shaq, juke like Terrell and swing like Tiger.

For Youth Radio I’m James Kim.
