Cactus Taqueria, located in both Oakland and Berkeley is a delicious Mexican restaurant that's great for the whole family. The service is quick the food is delicious, fresh and healthy and the prices are good. Everything in the restaurant is made from scratch right there in the restaurant and all the meat is free range and hormone free. The restaurant serves tacos, burritos, enchiladas, tamales, salads, as well as many different specials and a variety of drinks and draft beers. At the restaurant you can find a diverse selection of people from many different background.
The restaurant is set up in a cafeteria style where you pick up your food and find a seat. All the staff are friendly and helpful. I have never had bad experience at Cactus Taqueria in terms of receiving bad quality food though, although I have had a few orders messed up and had a few long waits. Besides a few minor mistakes in the many times I have eaten at Cactus my experiences have been reliable and wonderful.
You can expect to spend under $10 on a good sized meal even with a drink or appetizer. With the relatively low cost of food you definitely sacrifice some atmosphere, the restaurant is a bit noisy and, while always clean, has slightly worn out floors and a unwashed feel. Though the place doesn't look like a 5 star restaurant it does not look awful and there are no unpleasant odors that remove from your eating experience. Cactus is great if you have kids and you don’t want to feel like you are disturbing the peace. I highly recommend Cactus Taqueria for anyone who wants to order great takeout, get dinner with the kids, or getting a large order for many people.
